Inner Balance is a health and healing center shared by a husband-and-wife team of holistic practitioners. Started by Nthabiseng in 2012, focusing on yoga, massage and colon hydrotherapy, her husband Aad joined the practice in 2021 bringing Acupuncture, Ayurveda and herbal medicine.
Nthabiseng Matube is the founder of Innerbalance-Enschede. She passionately believes that every individual matters and each deserves optimum health, joy, inner peace, and inner balance. She is committed to helping others achieve this.
As a little girl, Nthabiseng grew up among her extended family on a farm in the Southern African Kingdom of Lesotho. She spent her days running around outside, often taking care of her family’s animals. Her family ate fresh food from their own land.
The closest medical clinic was about an hour walk from home. So, Nthabiseng’s family relied on the abundance of their land. Herbs were often brewed in tea or paste to treat skin, bruises, and other ailments. This is how she learned that there are herbs for almost every illness to support the body in healing itself.
Nthabiseng was introduced to colon hydrotherapy as a young child. When family members showed signs of fatigue or flagging energy, Nthabiseng’s grandmother cleansed their bowels, then put them to rest encouraging they drink lots of water with herbal tea. The next morning, vigor and energy always returned. This is how she learned that bowel cleansing is one of the best ways to heal naturally!
Because of her upbringing, Nthabiseng deeply believes in the body’s ability to heal itself, and in supporting the body naturally with herbs and cleansing. These beliefs have followed her from Lesotho to Enschede, which is now home. They followed her through raising four children. And they guide her through serving her clients at Innerbalance-Enschede.
When Nthabiseng is not serving clients at Innerbalance, you might find her:
- In the kitchen cooking a lovely meal
- On her yoga mat
- Taking a walk in nature
- Visiting a friend
- Travelling and meeting people from different walks of life, which keeps her young and joyful.
She is formally trained as a nurse midwife, yoga instructor, spiritual life coach, massage therapist, and colon hydro therapist.

Aad van der Lugt
Aad grew up in Eindhoven. His interest in nature did not fit with his surroundings and he found himself drawn to the outskirts of his bustling town where he could commune with the foliage he loved to draw.
As a young man, he found the teachings of Albert Schweitzer and became interested in dedicating his life to helping others, particularly in the area of health and healing. Aad studied medicine and took his knowledge to South Africa where he worked in a hospital in Lesotho. This is where he met and married Nthabiseng, a union that brought four children.
Upon leaving 1991, Africa, he resettled his family in Enschede and built a family medical practice. Throughout the thirty years of building and running his modern medicine practice, Aad’s interest and learning about nature, natural healing and ancient healing modalities continued.
A turn came in 2018, Aad was diagnosed with prostate cancer, something he now refers to as a blessing in disguise. It set him on a much more spiritual path and reminded him that his life’s purpose is to be a healer, not just a physician. Most importantly, it was a reminder to maintain his own health so that he could help others.
His cancer spurred him to study and become certified in Ayurveda, and herbal medicine. It also helped him to see the role of spirituality in all things. He believes he would not have come to this realization had he not experienced the cancer diagnosis.
Aad loves to serve clients of Innerbalance-Enschede with these traditional healing modalities and to work alongside Nthabiseng. He is very excited to be part of the shifting conscience toward health care in the world, both personally and professionally.
When he is not working in the practice you can find him gardening, cooking or swimming.
